This morning at 04:14, Oglethorpe County Fire & Rescue personnel were dispatched to a residential structure fire on Hargrove Lake Road. Upon arrival on scene, the structure was fully involved with fire through the roof. Fire personnel worked diligently to extinguish the fire and prevent extension.
We received automatic aid from Arnoldsville Fire Department, Devil’s Pond VFD, Wolfskin VFD, Sandy Cross VFD, Winterville VFD, and Athens-Clarke County Fire and Emergency Services. Georgia Forestry, Oglethorpe County EMS, and the Oglethorpe County Sheriff’s Office was also on scene providing assistance.
We are thankful that there were no injuries or victims as a result of this incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation, which has been turned over to the State Fire Marshall’s Office.
